I know that this feature inspires me to exclaim "This is my favorite movie ever!"often, but this one probably is. I've seen this version, as well as the one with Annette Bening and Warren Beatty (Love Affair), as well as the ones that touch upon it slightly, like Sleepless in Seattle.
It's beautiful, it's dreamy, and it makes you want to come closer to your TV just to soak it all in.
Here's Deborah Kerr in 1957...

and a close-up
I've let myself go a little on this one, but I think I managed to stay true to the original. Let me know what you think :)

Random Friday - My Ladybugs
On Random Fridays I write about the things I adore, that I either possess, or love platonically. When it comes to these ladybugs, I'm the one who's possessed. By them :) I have many more ladybugs, in different materials, textures and sizes, but these are with me everyday.
They are both gifts from my boo. I don't usually wear jewellery (just them and a Claddagh ring - but that's for another Friday), but I wear them all the time, and I'd feel incomplete without them. The emotional value that they carry far exceeds their tiny wings, but they seem to enjoy it - and so do I :)

Kooky Thursday - Lord Sandwich
From time to time, when I'm home alone, I'll try to compose a sandwich containing a balance of store bought and homemade, healthy and not so healthy, at the same time delicious stuff. Although sandwiches are generally not thought of as gourmet food, I think that a little love and creativity can make them just that.
The baguette was made by this recipe.
The tomato sauce was also homemade, using only five ingredients. Here's the recipe.
3 tbs olive oil
2.2 lb tomatoes
3 cloves garlic (or 2 ts garlic powder)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp freshly ground pepper
(or to your own taste)
Heat the olive oil and add cut garlic cloves, just so that they infuse the oil. Add peeled and cut tomatoes and cook for 30 minutes, medium heat. Add the remaining spices and cook for 15 more minutes. Blend the tomatoes and let cool. Once cooled, the sauce may be stored in a glass jar and refrigerated for a week.
And what makes me especially happy, is serving it to someone I love, and seeing that they enjoy it. The meal will then usually become a household staple, enjoyed, and when not enjoyed, remembered for a long time.
P. S. I'm a fresh parsley addict, too :)

Unemployed on Wednesday - Inner Child Issue
Today I'd suggest spending time with someone that makes you feel like a child again. No, not in the infantilizing kind of way, but that warm and fuzzy feeling of being accepted, appreciated and loved for who you are. Be it someone who knew you when you were a kid, or someone who wakes your inner child, enjoy.
In the light of that idea, I spent this morning with my adored Grandparents.
We had breakfast together, along with a lot of laughter, newspaper-reading and some gossiping :)
After that, we went grocery shopping, followed by tea and cookies at noon.
I love the way I feel when I'm with them. In no hurry to get anywhere, just following along their established rituals, everything in perfect balance, work + play.
As spring was in the air, some spring cleaning was in order, so I ended up putting some painterly finishing touches around their house, helped clean the attic and pantry, and lo and behold, my Grandma's junk became my treasure. I got a vintage teapot with a fun, bright-red handle, two sweet b-w gobelins, this music box (it still works!)
They're all in need of some TLC, but nothing too serious.
I'll post some 'after' photos in a day or two. Hope your Wednesday was nice, too!

Inspiration for Your Tuesday - G.B.Shaw
It's good to have you here this Tuesday :)
Today's inspiration comes from a long-lived and prolific Irish playwright, who was awarded both a Nobel prize and an Oscar in his lifetime. And coming from such an accomplished person, this quote must ring true.

Martin Luther King Day
I've done a project recently on Martin Luther King, Jr., and I am grateful to have done so. The immeasurable knowledge and a way with words were put to good use to make a difference. I find the quote below to be relevant to the creative and blogging community we are a part of. Be inspired and be at somebody's service today :)
Bonnie & Clyde
Happy Monday! I hope your week is up to a good start.
Today I'm bringing a sixties movie starring Faye Dunaway (and Warren Beatty, but let's focus on Mrs. Dunaway :)
While I might choose her outfit in the tens, you'll have to provide the attitude yourselves.
So, here's Ms Parker in 1967...
and here...
and here is what's in store for her today

Unemployed on Wednesday - Learn Something about Yourself
From time to time I'll bump into some piece of information concerning the human body that'll totally amaze me, like the one that says that human bone is as strong as granite. Somehow knowing these things makes you look at yourself differently (at least that's what it does for me), and more importantly, take better care of yourself. My Grandma always says, Take care of yourself and God will take care of you.
Today I decided to look up some interesting facts, and while some of them will make you laugh or just remain a cool thing to know, the others will help you provide for your organism what it needs, when it needs it. Feel free to look up here, here and here.

Inspiration for Your Tuesday
As I never took the time to wish you happy holidays, I'll do that now. May whatever you desire come true. My prerequisite for you is good health, love and work enthusiasm.
Today's inspiration is also very new-year appropriate. Enjoy :)

Rear Window
Hello :) In this year's first installment of classic movie fashion, I chose another Hitchcock's thriller - Rear Window.
Plot aside, this movie features lots and lots of great fashion. Although I adore the dressy ensembles to pieces, my choice was (and usually is) something wearable on a daily basis. (But wouldn't you like to wear a full skirt, pearls and décolletage for a walk, to a shop, or just so :D ?)
Anyways, here's Lisa Carol Fremont, 1954...
...some more,
and a close-up of the jewellery... sort of.
And here's what she could find today
